maybe landeskog should keep his head up when crossing the blue line with the puck, and knowing who is on the ice helps. Cheap not at all.

"O’Byrne’s role on the Avalanche is to be an enforcer, however feeling shame in the box against a very potent and hot power play unit is not the smartest thing to do and the Sharks made him pay for preying on someone who delivered a clean hit."

O'Byrne is not an enforcer for the Avs, enforcers don't wear visors. It wouldn't make much sense for an enforcer to wear a visor if every time they tried to fight someone they were given the automatic 2-minute instigating-with-a-visor penalty. He just took offense to that hit on his captain and tried to make something out of it. Didn't work out too well for him.

And I'm not saying that was a dirty hit, but it definitely wasn't clean. There should have been a penalty - probably just a minor. But the dude did leave his feet and connect with the head, the league is supposed to be cracking down on that.

2 Oiler fans and a 2 Avs fans walk into a bar...

I'm looking forward to seeing these Sharks tomorrow. They have underachieved for a few seasons. They've been one of the best teams over the last 5 or 10 years and haven't been able to get there. Canuck fans know something about that. Canucks crushed the Ducks; if they are back on they game, this will be a tight one.

Let's try and be rational and leave out the hyperbole.

Hard hit - Yes
Contact with head - Yes
Leaving feet - No
Elbow - No

If you watch the replay this much is clear. In fact only one skate leaves the ice which occurs after contact. Some say Stuart first hit the shoulder and the hit carried through to the head, others say it was a hit to the head plain and simple.

I get that no one likes seeing their players laid out, especially by what could easily be called a questionable hit. But let us not rewrite history on this one.

O’Byrne an enforcer???

Wow, you lost any credibility after that statement. Not an enforcer at all. He's a pretty boy and don't you even think about messing with his hair.

Avs got rocked after starting the game well. That hit completely changed the game and the 2 goals on the PP took it out of the team.

I hate losing but I've always liked the Sharks so I can handle this one. Plus, Marleau is playing fantastic hockey right now!

Love Landeskog but you have a good point. The hit was borderline clean/ cheap. The funnier aspect of this was O'Byrne kicking Stuarts a@#!!! I like seeing someone stick up for a team mate. Wish someone on the Islanders would have handed Phaneuf his after a check from behind on JT.

O'Byrne might not be the Av's enforcer but who the hell on that team is a tough guy???

Sorry Av's the Sharks handed you a beat down.

Quick question are Shark fans happy to have picked up Scott Gomez? What role do you expect he will play for this team?

I The Sharks, always did.

How is Gomez doing? It would be nice to see him get back to the player he once was. I think he can do that in San Jose.

I was expecting worse from him in that game but he played pretty gd. fourth line grinder with a vet presence. A vet presence that has actually won something, like rob Blake a few years ago.

Gomez played really well yesterday. He may not be a top 6 guy but is an upgrade over someone like McLaren or McCarthy so we are happy to have him.

Also, no supplemental discipline for Brad Stuart which is good news. I thought it was a great hit.

What's not to like? He's playing for peanuts and he might be able to contribute in a reasonable way. I was hoping the Canucks would pick up Redden and Gomez. They've got to be better than Barker and Vandermeer (not that either guy has played a game yet).
